Ethanol Extraction for Small Start Up

Yea gotta love Michigan winter I can leave dry ice in the yeti cooler outside for a week lol
I also leave material outdoor to help get it nice and cold
I pick up the whole trash can and take it in the lab and it keeps everything cold while I filter it

Yea I use a vaccubrand diaphram vac pumps flow rate thro buchner is ok but I’m trying to do 4 gallons cold it takes forever
with yea just particulates in the etho I use buble magic 220 micro bags to wash

I like it. I’m thinking I could use a big trash can with dry ice and a small trash can inside containing the biomass and Etoh. Easy peasy and cheap. Just get a cheap vacuum pump from harbor freight and a large plastic Büchner like this with filters and collection flasks and you are in business.

It brings the etoh ph down to 3.5.

Please, treat it like medicine, not trash!

At a min, find yourself a food grade hdpe barrel for the biomass. For better heat transfer, get stainless.

A used beer keg should cost you less than $50, and you can remove the top to make a 15gal pot trivially.

You can also get all kinds of fancy with keg mods. Those $100k CUPs come with kegs…
