Distillate tails remediation (free data)

Eyo

So I ran all my jars of distillate tails through my chromatograph.

They tested anywhere from 10-40% cannabinoids.

Usually a ratio of 3-5:1 thc to CBN.

I melted it all down in 5:1 methanol.

Stirred for 5h, then froze overnight.

Poured methanol off of big black glob on the bottom.

Tested glob. Dropped down to 18% cannabinoids from 32% initial.

Re-ran glob in methanol and stirred.

Rinse repeat x2.

Got the glob down to about 8% cannabinoids.

Will likely do another pull or two to see how low it can go.

so @Bridge is after cannabinoids not roofing tar?

Need 500 kilos of crude Garbage\spent residue

Where do the cannabinoids go?

Into the methanol.
I take the methanol and evaporate it and re-distill the cannabanoids.

smart! Did you introduce any heat during mixing your tail and methanol?

On the initial melt I needed to. It was stiff as a rock. Heated them separately then combined and stirred.

On the subsequent pulls i found the texture was more runny/saturated. So just did the next pulls at room temp with a quick (1-2h) chill and settle.

That is cool, thanks for sharing.

I see a lot of people through the tail away after the distillation. This is a smart way to do

I ran a methanol LLE on some CBD tails and crystallized with pentane to see what I’d end up with. I never tested it, just threw it in with my next run. This is the color/consistency though. I got 48g out of the 100ml I tried this with. The methanol LLE took almost all of the smell out.

Sooooo goooooood! Lol

Potency testing for flower/trim is amazing.

Able to validate experiments is unbelievably helpful as well.

Wouldn’t to back to running without. Such a difference.
