One issue I see is not knowing your crude bho weight, therefore not knowing the correct amount of ethanol for proper winterization.

Not for winterizing… It dropped what I thought was a crystal or a spec of something when I did that. So I was actually thinking maybe there’s a chance of causing some kind of crystallization from using both… Though I figure that’s impossible because nothings saturated… It still puzzles me.
The result of those dabs back in 2015 got me drunk more than high so maybe not a substantial idea but just tossing out the question.
I would never think in “ground breaking” for most of everything has already been done and you gotta really look between l the lines to really want to be groundbreaking in research.

Butane + Ethanol will have a reaction I guess if you winterize them
You likely started to cold crash slightly and it was a THCa bloom. It’s essentially the same idea as dewaxing, but with a different saturation to crash out THCa rather than fats
Yes but I’m wondering how on this planet did this happen to a not saturated butane/ethanol solution that was buchner funneled and then put back in the freezer.
in 2015 parameters: It was an ounce blasted via bvv closed column into a 1/4 pint jar that was a little more than half filled with everclear.
I put it through the buchner pretty much right away. Then I stuck that jar in the freezer.
What got me though when I look back on it all is that it took a really really really short amount of time before I saw a spec growing in it. Like it took me realizing in my head like 30 mins that maybe I shouldn’t have this jar with potential vapors of flammable gas in my kitchen freezer; That I saw some kind of what I now know of since 2017 as thca crashing.
My main Question is: Should I re-create this under safer conditions to see what happens?
All my experiments show ethanol makes crystallization a lot more difficult. Why use ethanol at all, just blast cold filter and crash. Ethanol fucks terps

ethanol doesn’t damage terps you just need to precipitate them out at the end. there are many extraction methods that crash butane or other hydrocarbons into ethanol for fast reaction speeds.
in the absence of halogens and UV light a hydrocarbon isn’t ‘reacting’ with shit

Cold crash…
It’s called co cosolvent. For crude it works very well.
You pull vacuum on column and then next alcohol under vacuum so it expands and soaks without soaking and dripping off. Then you inject butane and when you pump it all out you’re left with a pot you can keep readding to.
On fact some of the first hash oil most of you smoked on the market around 2002-2005 came in brown bottles and wash hash oil made with co solvent. If you remember the little brown bottles you had to heat up and they were very thick. That was the product myself and pinky used to make back on the day. This was a tech we used from CO2 co solvent extractions.
If you ever bought old school hash oil this is exactly how it was made and a high chance through the USA if you smoked it, I made it back then.

Between those years there was only four known people who were making and or distributing the little brown bottles of oil to the bay area Cali clubs. Who then shipped them out all the way out to where ever.
