Okay. So this thread should probably just be us nailing down the rules etc. Then a new thread for the actual contest.
The goal is clear. Take dark extract and make it clear using media in different combinations and with varying techniques and post a clear sop detailing those variations.
The problem is the are so many solvents choices it almost doesn’t make sense to have a different contest for each solvent because the prizes can become very costly. So it’d almost make more sense to do them all in a single contest, but each method should require the use of media considering that’s the prize. The only downside to that is people trying to clean using certain solvents won’t stand much of a chance against those choosing better suited solvents, but that’s kinda of a learning experience in itself so not all bad.
I also think the solvent used during extraction should be irrelevant, another learning experience available, as long as it starts out dark.

I only have one option that i know of to use. Not sure if i could retrofit my system to use other solvents

This is a good chance to utilize dcm or chloroform since we’re only sharing pictures and not dabs.

I think being safe for use is probably an important part too. No point in producing a clear, unmarketable product.

Its certainly not unmarketable, remember the dose makes the poison. With that said i still wouldnt smoke the extract without adding a higher boiling solvent like hexane to make sure all the halogenated solvent has left the product.

Okay maybe marketable wasn’t the right term. Safe though, so I guess I believe it’d be best if we were competing over and sharing techniques to produce a clear(or as close to as possible), safe for use, finished product from a dirty nasty extraction of any origin with the use of medias regardless of the solvent being used.

At least one of the users on this forum already uses dichloromethane in their process although they didnt want to admit it. Im hoping they enter their sop in the contest, i dont want to do too much RnD with a solvent like dcm since i dont have a fume hood and my respirator mask has a crack in the glass 
.
