My lab is full of idle equipment. If it could generate a living wage and contribute to a project with longevity I’d be open to the conversation.

Right, but if you can’t tell someone is a Junkie when you interview them then you shouldn’t be in charge of hiring. Drug testing is lazy and it’s discrimination. Seriously… Othering human beings is fucked.
Edit. How about a way to make every drug test a fail.
I’ve also been thinking about a “check engine light” gun. Some kind of directed energy device that sets a check engine lamp in expensive cars, remotely.

Addiction to it can. My point is when someone steeps low to rob for THC, its junky behavior. They spend all their money on THC products instead of saving it or smoking wisely.
People can get addicted to substances like THC, although uncommon, its generally in the youth because they have such fragile minds and also have grown up around thinking its ok to rob in general + the “i need a high but im broke” mentality.
So yes in my opinion THC played the role here, + him being a trash human but had they been sober/not wanting to get high they would not have wanted to rob. They could live a sober week or 2 until next paycheck but no “muh dopamine” is too important
