Sure acetone is a good winterization solvent
The Beauty of acetone is it s azeotrope with pentane ( bp 32C) so if you would insist on presurving as much of the terpene content
Adding pentane to your winterized ( already filtered solution ) can aid in terpene preservation

If you are going to scrub it, the ratio I use is 5% of the oil. From an old IchiBanCrafter article “Wash warmed to about 80F before adding the carbon. The recommended amount of carbon to use is about 5% of the estimated oil volume contained in the wash.”
If that is correct and your Buchner Funnel is really only 100ml (maybe typo and it’s mm?) using DE and carbon might be pretty slow going.
You can avoid all the hassle of both the color, wax and lipids by using a frozen QWET process for the primary extraction instead of trying to clean it up later.
Thank you, well I’m about to go for the Buchner funnel tech with as you said warm it and mix by carbon.
Then filter it through with some DE through a Buchner funnel. Just have to figure out what kind of pump I should be using, as the pump need to handle vapor from alcohol, if using a cold trap maybe any pump would work? But yeah it’s primary for just small batches so doesn’t need to be more then a 200ml Buchner and like 1-2L receiving flask.
You want a diaphragm style vacuum pump, those can handle vapors since it blows through the pump. Make sure internal components and diaphragms are compatible with the solvents you use (all PTFE material is ideal). It’s also the type of pump you would want to connect to your rotary evaporator.
FYI: if you are using those solvents, you will never be able to boil them all off to low non-detectable levels by using a rotary evaporator or hotplate alone. So if people test the oil they will see a lot of residual solvents. I would guess a vac oven with enough time is probably the only way to remove solvent to low detectable PPMs. Theres a downloadable US Pharmacopeia guide for USP standards of acceptable residual solvents for orally taken medicines based on quantity of medicine per day etc.
A diaphragm pump is preferable, so you don’t really have to worry about it. You also don’t have to worry about exhaust oil mist from cheap pumps either.
I don’t know exactly how you are quantifying “small batch,” so if you are only running 100-200 ml, that size funnel will be ok. However, if you are actually running 1L-2L I think you will find that a 200 ml Büchner is going to be a serious PIA, but that’s up to you.
Just gonna link this for anyone here who hasn’t seen me repost it (what feels like) a thousand times over the years. This works better than anything else I tried to clean up ethanol extract, and I tried a ton of different methods. It’s tried and true, and no one in the thread has mentioned the T5 and AC combo for the win. Y’all are missing out.
