Chromatography solvents and ratios

what solvent and ratios give you guys the best separation?
from TLC it seems 70/30 pentane/heptane may be the winner.

You’re trying to separate thc and cbd on a tlc I’m guessing?

Maybe this can help you get started

If you wanna seperate cbd and thc on TLC, I would recommend a binary solvent system that consists one of non-polar solvent like hexane or heptane and a second solvent that is a little polar like ethyl acetate. You can get TLC “paper” which is easily cut with scissors and is cheap. Cut like 10 strips of that and get 10 mason jars. Then in each mason jar add your solvent, using proportions that go from least polar to most polar.

For instance,

JAR #1 : 9:1 (hexane : ethylacetate)
JAR #2: 8:2 (hexane : ethylacetate)
JAR #3: 7:3 (hexane : ethylacetate)
And so on…
JAR #10 : 1:9 ( hexane:(ethyl-acetate)

Then spot your TLC strips and place in jars and see what gives the best separation.

thanks pentane and heptane are both nonpolar, I’ll try pentane and acetone

That is one of THE best books for doing chemistry related techniques like chromatography, TLC, crystallization and more. It is written well, funny, and has good illustrations. Good safety info also
