Cheapest dry ice

Anyone have a recommended dry ice place in Western Washington area?

I buy between 100-200 pounds at a time usually. My go to place has been OSS for awhile, $.79/lb, but they haven’t stocked for awhile. Help.

Airgas, Central Cryogenics (Central welding supply), Praxair

airgas sucks in my experience. They buy up other companies to try to corner the market and drive up price. Then when you get the dry ice its “old”. You can tell how fresh it is by how much fine dust is in with the pellets, more dust= older.
I switched to dry ice corp, they are way better. Better customer service, better quality ice, better quality storage bins that hold temp longer, and most importantly I was able to save $20,000 annually just from getting away from airgas.

Yeah my experience with Airgas was they charge more than OSS the few times I’ve bought from them.

Unfortunately I don’t think Dry Ice Corp is in Washington.

I’m going to see what the price is at praxair.

Bruh… @Dabzmcdee

Gets me thinking, these guys running co2 supply companies are probably doubling their money… cuz i know it goes down to 0.25/lb

Yeah I read this whole thread and the other you posted. Only 1 person mentioned praxair at $.25, and that was for a 500lb bin. Wasn’t sure if they would even sell that amount without a account with them. Thanks for the info you posted cause that helped me a lot!

I used to buy 750 lbs a week with no account… I’m sure they will sell you 500lbs. Now taking there tote home is a different story and you’ll need an account for that.
Edit: of course you don’t need to use there totes

I’m sure whos best on service or pricing varies by the area… This was a few years ago and my memory might not be perfect
But from what I can recall in the Seattle area, Airgas manufactured DI north of Seattle and sold to several companies
We got better service and pricing from Central Cryogenics reselling and delivering Airgas DI, than dealing with Airgas directly. Ice was delivered in the Airgas 500lb wheeled totes.

It’s a bummer there’s no Oxarc in the NW corner of Washington. In Central and Eastern Washington those guys kill it for solvent, DI, and CO2. Everything except for the non-wheeled totes and platforms they use.

I use oxarc. One stop shop and all the employees I have dealt with are super chill.

Just a reminder that AdChem manufactures dry ice in the Bay and in Eureka. We have the ability to deliver to S OR all the way down to SoCal. Give us a call us to see if we can better your price. Also important to note we make our ice fresh. because we invested in high capacity manufacturing machines. We don’t make it and let is sit. Then on top of all that you’ll receive excellent service. Doing business with a GLG member is better than giving Prax or Airgas your money anyway:) Thanks all!

See my comment above for your answer. Where in NY are you?

Wanted to update this thread on my quest to find the cheapest dry ice in Western Washington.

So I went to Praxair in Tacoma, with the $.40/lb invoice on hand. Well, without a account they would charge me over $1/lb for dry ice. To get a cheaper price they told me to open up an account with them. So I got an email from them, talked back and forth, found out even if I did open up an account with them the cheapest they would go for me is $.90/lb :grimacing:. I would have been happy if they would just slightly beat my price at OSS at $.79/lb, but they wouldn’t. They told me the dry ice in California is cheaper because the plant in California has the CO2 pumped straight to the plant and is right next to a sales/ distribution facility.

So currently OSS is still the cheapest for me. If anyone has anymore suggestions, let me know.

Check out the hydroponic stores near you. That’s how I found out I can get it .50c a lb.

thats a bunch of bologne.
The co2 plant is nowhere near me, they have to truck it just as far as your praxair. Sorry to hear there being so difficult, i might have receipts that say 0.70/lb from them, ill check my receipts next time im over there

Praxair in Tacoma quoted me 1.50/lb a week ago. Shits crazy. Hopefully the prices start to come down soon now that people are getting back to work and driving again.
