CBD burned to high heavens!

Noob question here family…

My bootleg 5L SPD sucks and Ive been getting vacuum issues so im running cbd isolate at high heat…

What type of degradition issues will I have? Havent tested it but im worried at like 220C to 250C for too long and Im ruining my batches to like CBN.

It looks amazing, super clarity gold.

Should i be ok? Just mantle is a bit broken so its not the most stable.

Do you guys get pure cbd distillate even at high temps and avoid degrading?

Have you tried using high quality vac grease ?
Checking your thermocouple? Changing vac pump oil after every run? Digivac Gauge?

How’s your head temp?
220c mantle with a 190-193c head temp is fine for first pass
Second pass 180-185 mantle temp and 160-170 head temp.
Sometimes mantle temp reaches 190 but keep your head temp below 170 or so.

Ok yeah its been quiet higher than that just low on supplies and working with shitty mantle.

Better vac grease is a good idea and my thermo should be ok

At what point does CBD start degrading under these hot/prolonged conditons?

not you’re not. you’re running crude. distilling isolate would make zero sense unless the goal was isomerization.

possibly. only way to know what you’re doing is to test that which you have done.

how are you with electrickery?

a $35 PID controller hacked into the control circuit of your mantle will go a long way to stabilizing that part of the equation.

using the correct terminology is important. not just for OP, but for anyone else following along behind.

I’ll admit I may be a hair sensitive on this one:

I worked for someone who was sure we were making “distolate” (distillate + isolate) …never did manage to disabuse him of that notion.

He’s trying to isomerize- everyone and their mother is bandwagoning again

Seems like you nailed it…again.

That depends on what else you’ve got in the damn pot!!
