Cartridges coming out cloudy

So I had this happen earlier,…I was using said syringe w rubber stopper to move plain disty from larger container to a small one. NO TERPS!

I noticed the last lil bit has tons bubbles like always but my temp was dropping off fast. So the last lil bit w all the bubbles and cooling made this look. I clean my syringes w ethanol and never had this happen until it was the end syringe w temps being to low

The disty cooled and had these cloudy swirls through it. I reheated and they went right away

Could the cloudy swirls be air bubbles plus cool disty, that didn’t get heated back up? Looks awful in my cart and jar, but I reheated the jar and it went away

Just a thought. Does the cloud come to everyone else at the end the syringe?

Um yeah bro, I almost ALWAYS, Have cloudy dusty on the final push of my syringe. I do think my main problem was somehow getting a slight amount of water into my mixing jar from the water bath I was using. But even when the majority of my batch came out clear that final little amount came out wispy cloudy. I’ve switched everything over to graduated pipettes and graduated cylinders, just to eliminates any potential problems. Now I’m killing it, all carts coming out clear and light yellow.

Stay away from plastic ware and rubber ones too. Be sure to keep a clean lab especially from dust. It takes very little to contaminate the distillate

You clean your disposable syringes with ethanol? That skews things a bit. The mineral oil lubricant is one thing but in your case it could just be moisture from never drying completely when you cleaned them. I’ve seen that happen myself and it causes a similar milky appearance (louching?). Might just be ethanol/water but it’s tough to say. I would repeat the experiment with a glass on glass syringe and clean it the same way you normally do. If you get the same results, it’s ethanol/moisture. If you don’t, it’s the lubricant. you should look into using better syringes anyway

@StoneD @Extract_wizard Always happens with the distillate near the plunger, yeah. I found it happening with fresh untouched syringes that were sealed, so definitely not moisture. So its happening either way? Cleaning the syringe or not?

Yeah that’s teh lube then.

Pretty sure it has confused TF out of everyone in the beginning. There are better quality plastic syringes that don’t have it. They’re like ten cents more a piece

I was getting mine locally and they were terrible. Got a good link?

What size do you need?

These are 40 cents each. Get two boxes it’s free shipping. they normally have them on Amazon for 25-30 cents each. They have 10ml ones for 90 cents each on amazon. They make huge ones too. No rubber plunger, individually wrapped/sealed/sterile. They’re not cheap but it’s worth it for no contaminants. If you set up a business account with them you can get them for closer to half that buying direct from manufacturer. No MOQ they just require an approved account

Has it been properly winterized? Have u tested a small amount of it in ethanol

Is it every cart or just a few here and there

Is this directed to me? I found it didnt have this problem when I cleaned the syringe and dried it first.
@stoopkid thanks! I’ll see if I can find chemglass on amazon.ca

Bd medical syringes.

Imo, medical produced products should not have this oil issue.

They still do use the lubricant. I was using medical ones originally and looked into it. It’s supposedly non toxic so it’s safe for injections but that doesn’t mean we want it clouding up our disty

Edit : there are ones that specifically do not have it in it because some people get rashes at the injection site from it
