Cannabis derived terpenes vs non-cannabis derived terpenes

I was referencing you saying your CO2 terps were great. What do you do with the biomass after? Do you not extract it for cannabinoids?

Yeah the biomass in cannabinoids are relatively unaffected I don’t think it affects them at all the CO2 is actually very gentle

What I do think is that the machine is leaving a lot behind like definitely want more than 1% and I suspect it’s up to 3% ,

Phase 1 - CO2 extract biomass for terps
Phase 2 - ?
Phase 3 - Profit

Different conditions can target Essential oil fraction vs cannabinoid.

My question is more or less, how do you handle the biomass before CO2 terp pull (in my head THCA and water will negatively impact the yield of the cannabinoid pull afterwards?). Are you taking out the biomass and dacarbing before the cannabinoid pull?

Terp pull then cannabinoid pull. Terp pull should not mess up the second extraction.

The biomass should be as dry as possible because moisture affects the efficiency of the extraction. The first video Terps Pull

Then the material is removed from the vessel and decarbed and then put back into the vessel and we extract

Awesome, so I’m on the right track of mind in my thinking then.

How do you remove moisture pre terp pull? Decarb would cook terps off, lowering yield? Would a dehydrator work?

My problem is how to remove the water without losing the terps before the terp pull because the water is what will mess up the cannabinoid pull.

Yeah bud we use the hydrator in our drying tent prior to any extraction

You distill utilizing an spd in a deep freezer

catnip and caapi extracts would be neat to play with as well

@Betroit awesome I appreciate your a lot. I asked because THC is more soluble in CO2 than THCA but decarbing would spoil terp%. Dehydrator made sense just wanted to be sure.

space in the deep freezer is the ultimate premium! lol

Lol!!! Cryo fridge.

THC A is I believe 30% less soluble in CO2 than THC V

We gave up trying to dry and extract after pulling terpenes. We were getting 3 - 4% return and it just wasn’t worthwhile.

Do you distill the terps? If so, why not incorporate the water-removed CO2 terp pull to distillate? I think it offers a bit more of a kick than the distilled terps personally. Though, this results in a much more consistent product from batch to batch I guess.

I really don’t know what you’re saying, I don’t understand the question

Those terpenes look like you steam distilled them after?
