Cannabinoids for early onset dementia?

, ,

Does anyone have experience treating someone with early onset dementia using cannabinoids?

Specifically for the anxiety related to having dementia, person is currently taking 200mg of full spec CBD extract with 3mg of THC per day and seeing positive results, but could use more.

Asking for a friend

Thanks

I’m also interested in the subject. It would be helpful to note the cause of dementia, if known, along with any anectdotes. I’m sure that there will be major differences in efficacy of treatment for small cell ischemia vs alzheimer’s, etc.

This definitely hits all too close to home, as I’ve seen Alzheimer’s take my great grandpa, and am now watching my mom and grandpa slip away for whatever reasons. Grandpa was just in for an evaluation, but I haven’t spoken with my grandma about the details yet. Then my mom keeps dodging the doctors and the whole issue in general. Just acts like we’re picking on her for forgetting things, like there’s nothing wrong.

I think it’s also worth looking into mushrooms as a treatment. Lion’s Mane could possibly be helpful. Psylocibin mushrooms in micro doses may also help. I don’t really know much about them, but have heard some promising things. Perhaps @MillerliteRN could enlighten us some more on the topic.

I know someone who’s elderly father uses Ipamorelin for his age related mental decline and it seems to work very well…

No idea how safe that is tho. Also it’s not dementia…

CBG plus Vitamin K2, also D8 or D9 if Alzheimers was already diagnosed.

Would you mind elaborating on the basis for that answer? Very curious!

The social/mental stigma of cannabis will always be highest for the oldest people, who are the most likely to have dementia. What I have run into is that they are usually on several rx meds from big pharma, ask their doc about cannabis, he says no, and that is the end of it. Interactions with rx meds may still be a legitimate concern.

Inflammatory processes plus deposition of excess dietary Calcium in blood vessels

btw whoever reads this, drastically cut your Calcium intake and go fucking hard on menaquinone. you’ll thank me in 20 years (if we’re still around by then)

Interesting. Looks like it is a hgh releasing peptide, and human growth hormone is the closest thing we’ve found to the fountain of youth, so it makes sense it may help.

Seems its use is mainly for losing weight and building muscle, but it would be good to see some trials for other uses that may benefit from increased hgh levels.

CBC as far as cannabinoids I’d think would show some promise. Neurogenesis promotion was found in the NSAID trial comparing cbc I believe in past iirc.

It’s on the market almost exclusively for body building community. Those folks don’t really care what they put in their body as long as it’ll get them jacked.

Just another research chemical.

Even scarier… a research hormone.

If I was 70 years old and broken I’d probably role those dice tbh

Suppression of inflammatory processes and inhibition of further deposition of Calcium, possibly even removal of existing plaques, in order to improve vascular blood flow.

Interesting. I’m seeing two different versions of the molecule, any real difference between Mk-4 and Mk-7? I’m only seeing differences in half life

MK-7 is the one you want. MK-4 isn’t really useful.

That looks like a really good mix of medicinal mushrooms. It also has the benefit of being completely legal. Been too long since I have read up on the topic, but I remember reading great things about many of those.

@Dartanian, that’s what I was trying to remember, thank you!
