Building remote monitoring and alert tool for Harvest Right freeze dryers. Useful or useless?

I’d be interested in what is minimally required for a hardware intercept and raw data capture. It could be released as a packaged module (python, npm, ardiuno library, etc). This would allow developers (like myself, as well as your team) to integrate the raw data with any other packaged or home-brew notification/frontend system their preference. The next level being a packaged API that could be developed as a GET initially, with the addition of PUT/POST when/if input processing is a feature in the future.

Still days away, but I have successfully been using a web cam mounted to my Harvest Right unit to monitor the screen from my office. This works great!

Less successful has been my attempts to “read” the screen and create a log file, say every 60 seconds or 300 seconds. It would be great if there was a simple digital interface to the Harvest Right units, such as how the old GPS units worked, where they just generated a stream of digital data and the user did with it what they wanted.

Jan. 11th Update: Error alerts/texts are live!

Hey everyone! Overview of some recent changes.

  • Text/error alerts are in beta for HashyLink users (turn on in settings)
  • Enabling overheat detection after a few more days of testing (we are extremely cautious of sending false alarms that would disrupt you…
  • Improved vacuum reading accuracy below 200-500mTorr
  • Improved temp. reading accuracy for many users as we optimize across different thermistors

Still trying to figure out the best way to show everyone what we’re working on, so we are creating a sexier changelog on our website.

We’ll also continue posting major updates here.

Also thinking about doing a live Q&A session through IG tomorrow, and if we get enough interest we’ll host one.

As always, thank you for your valuable feedback. Couldn’t do this without you guys!

Hashy Q2 2024 Update: Batch analytics launch and 100,000 hrs of monitoring :earth_americas:

Hashy Batch Analytics

Hyped for this one! We’ve been working like mad dogs to improve HashyLink accuracy, add new analytics features, and set up exciting new hardware collaborations. This marks a big milestone for us as we shift our focus from basic monitoring to tangible metrics.

Milestones:

  • Monitored over 18,000 batches
  • Nearly 100,000 hours of runtime
  • Saved several trays of hash

Batch History

What’s New:

  • Batch History: View all your runs in one place. Logs transfer and organize automatically.
  • Batch Graphs & Analytics:
    • Analyze trends to optimize quality and consistency
    • Monitor the impact of shelf temperatures
    • Visualize how run sizes change drying times
    • Compare historical data
    • Track room temperature effects
    • Check condenser performance
    • Troubleshoot anomalies quickly

Coming Soon:

  • Batch Detection V2: Improved vacuum detection and more accurate batch timelines for 2023+ Home/Pharma/Commercial models.
  • New dashboard screen that will let you filter history by machine/batch/time and track key run stats at a glance.
  • Strain name input, wet and dry weights tracking for drying endpoint detection.
  • iPhone app: After much anticipation, the time is finally here. We’re rebuilding our entire ecosystem in Swift for iOS and we’ll be working on native Android soon after. Get in contact with us if you want to be an early tester on either platform!

Hit us up on here or via our website if you have any questions. Hope you all have a wonderful, high-yielding week.

As always, feedback and suggestions are welcome and appreciated. We wouldn’t be here without you guys! Thanks for all of the insights along the way.

Big update [04/08/25]

Hey everyone, been a while since our last update.

  • We just launched HashyLink for the Holland Green Science Xiros Mikro
  • We’re about to release remote control for Harvest Right (5.4.X) and newer

Crazy to think we have nearly 300 of these things out in the wild now and very excited to build the future of freeze drying for hash makers with the HGS crew. Good people.

Coming soon: predict batch times based on weights. Excited to keep building with all of you!
