Anyone out there using the new growers choice ROI-E420 LED?

I’d say 500w total for the 4x4 area I have.

I’m thinking of dialing everything up a bit though. Seems I’m not running nearly as much light as a lot of people do.

Maybe I’ll rig up some side lighting with my old diy bars or something now that you mentioned it helps.

An extra 150w or so might bump my numbers up a lil bit!

Use a net and get tops only. I use 2 nets, but still get a little below canopy usable nugs.

2-1000w acde set at 750w. 1.7g/w avg. In a 4x8 tent. No co2 yet. I would love to keep the yeild and lose some watts.

It started because I was told it could not be done. During winter I can turn them up. :smiling_imp: I have a hvac back ground.

I have the New growers choice LED and so far I like them. They are definitely good for the money.

I ran gavitas in ACDE hoods in a small room with 10 foot ceilings. Loved them. Lost 2 feet of ceiling height and went back to SE HPS. Looking forward to building another room with enough head room for them again.

If I had a $1000 to throw at one LED, id be tempted to get 2000w of the barrina’s instead of 650w of the big brands.

I run trellis also usually two - three rows. I found I got more/better penetration with leds vs the 315s. I was able to grow more dense plant count in the same place adding weight without bud quality fall off. Over a 4x8 space I had 3 315. With a canopy thickness of around 12-20” thick. Over that I would get a little larf below. Vs leds with a 2-4 ft thick. My friend did a 4x8 with 4 315s staggered she pulled more weight but had similar issues with penetration.

youve got personal results but theres scientific research on phytochromes and maybe if your light was stronger you wouldnt need the side light and youd have stacks of phytochromes. I probably got that mixed up but theres a photoreceptor which stacks up and strong light penetrates the stack and if you side light it tends to make the stacks on the main buds less. The stacks orient to the light source, thats why single point sources like a hps filament with no reflector do well.

Any clue what diodes are on those?

The sunboards are ~$.50/watt excluding heatsinks and drivers, the samsung diodes might be worth that little bit extra

I actually don’t know, just saw the link and mentioned the price.

They don’t look good based on the diodes they are running

Ahhh, yeah, i don’t think I’d buy with those diodes.

I’m not using one personally, I’m using qb knockoffs and diy bridgelux strips, just saw they were 80 bucks lol.

If the Barrina fixtures I picked up get relegated to veg racks, I’m still not upset from the price.
