2023 Farm Bill, predictions & insights

I wish the whole country would do what TN did. Legalize it and place a 6% excise tax. Seems like a win for everyone. Especially the ppl in TN who need safe legal access.

They did that?

Its all speculation, and as someone who diligently researches the laws and bills governing my industry, I can’t get even a guess as to when a new farm bill will happen. But it has to, and with it I ASSUME all isomers and the Ta will be ruled out, testing levels bumped up to 1% because that is genetically accurate. Seems like selling will be state to state still. As for the 280e, I agree, everyone from this game should know this shit is too good to be true, and its almost creating more division amongst the community. Go look at the Pop Corn Sutton case, and what they eventually came after him for.

The most logical thing would be to just draft all cannabis under the USDA program and establish standardized excise tax, not saying I want more taxes but we all know how this works. I think we will see pharma take over the isomers as they get scheduled.

It does seem the flood gates are open, physically and morally, but that doesn’t mean shit still can’t hit the fan, we just may be able to legally get high while it does lol

I think they will make a new licensing requirement for retail stores that want to sell intoxicating Hemp products and possibly for ones that want to manufacture them, assume they will create a new tax revenue code dedicated to all hemp products most likely having highest taxes on intoxicating products, they will limit amounts of intoxicating cannabinoids in edible products to 10mg per serving 100 per package, most likly limit the amount of intoxicating cannabinoids that a individual can buy at one time or even per month like Sudafed, new packaging and testing requirements that will likely be similar to canna industry, still limit D9 to .3% and require similar testing methods to convert thca, but still only preform a preharvest test, I think hemp derived THCa-A will be covered along with D8 D10 thcp and HHC and other semi sythetic but naturally orccuring hemp products while all O-acetate and other fully synthetic products not found naturally will be banned, they will probably start tracking products and sales like metrc and implement L2L sales only to make sure high school kids arnt buying jars of D8 anymore or unlicensed labs arnt making conversions, absolutely no way I see hemp products falling to 280e unless they are made illegal which would most likly just prohibit the sale of them anyway meaning no taxes which is definitely not what they want.

All I want is clear and easily understood regulations that will stay consistent with new readings of the farm bill so we arnt running around like dipshits every 5 years trying to stay in compliance

80,000 items siezed.

The way i see it they played us like a fiddle.

-Agree not to use federal $ to raid state legal operations.

-Everyone joins rat race , the community allows their ip to be taken

-unleash the farm bill, knowing what we will do with it. Decimating the price point.

-knowing what lack of enforcement in oklahoma would do to the price point.

-scoop up the grows. Licenses, labs, genetics for nothing now that everyones broke due to the hemp game and oklahoma broke the supply and demand side

Next step, get rid of psychoactive hemp derivatives in farm bill, allowing them to enjoy the fruits of their labor as they pass off the industry to big business as we already gave up our infinity stone’s. Increased prison penalties for unlicensed operations. Increased legit revenue will lead to increased funds to snuff out the unlicensed competition.

Im sure the past 5 years has been some version of this for most of us

what do we think the shelf life of a liter is stored cold. 3 years? 5 years? more?

thanks for the clarification and the response Bill. Hope your endeavors are thriving.

I was applied for and was appointed to the california hemp advisory board a few months ago. turned it down after a bit of deliberation combined with a likely move out of the state soon. The rules are way too fucked I would of just been wasting my time and breath.

Shelf life is a dubious term.

Will the distillate go ā€˜bad’ in a way that is unsafe for use?

Nah. Not likely ever.

The THC content, however, will decrease year over year making it less efficacious.

Therefore the testing CERTAINLY expires after 1-2 years regardless of whether the oil does or not.

If stored in uv resistant jars fully sealed with inert atmosphere just above freezing it could probably last forever, the thc breakdown into CBN happens at a very low rate, even when being directly exposed to heat and oxygen, so what is mostly happening in ā€œdegradingā€ products sitting on the shelf is the oxidation of phytocannabinoids to cannabinoquinoids (THC-Q CBD-Q HHU 331 ect.) which are MOSTLY
non-psychoactive compounds with a vast range of medical uses, but there are some that are potentially toxic, luckily most quinones can be easily separated using a simple CRC process and storing in the condition above should prevent oxidation altogether :+1:

Not sure how no one has posted this. Sounding like they will tax and regulate the psychoactives to me.
