YOC Dirty Diamond Tek - THCa isolation from Crude

You’re just north of being a masshole which is about the worst place to be

Where are u located?

Maines a big state

Cool you keep thinking that!

Portland is 3 hours from me if ur referring to the cannabis convention … hardly my neighborhood

I’m not even remotely interested in it, or you. And I’m not trying to be fucking mean about it but really look at yourself

I feel like u are

And that’s honestly your fault not mine!

What’s up y’all, I love Pentane and want you all to be safe while using it so A bit of info regarding n pentane.

Pentane is an alkane that can be a highly flammable liquid and vapor, it can also kill you if swallowed and enters airways.

Causes:

eye irritation

drowsiness or dizziness.

Being that it’s extremely flammable:

Keep away from heat/ sparks/open flames/hot surfaces….Don’t smoke around it.Take precautionary measures against static discharge. Ground/bond container and receiving equipment.

Wear proper PPE when handling/working with it.

For storage purposes keep it in a well ventilated place. Keeping it cool is best when in storage. Also In case an accident does occur (like a fire) Use foam, carbon dioxide or dry powder for extinction. Do not use anything other than that or you may cause the fire to grow even faster. Finally, please don’t dispose of empty containers in your recycling/trash bin.

Hope this helps.

A little off-topic here but what is cryo sohxlet extraction?
Cryo refers to really cold temperatures.
But sohxlet extraction relies on boiling the solvent you’re extracting with.
Did you mean sohxlet extraction with pentane followed by a cryo winterization?

I think he means the reflux condenser is on dry ice

OK… so not ‘cryo’ but I understand the logic

Okay cold extraction of pentane at just the boiling point but yes dry ice on the condenser. Not "cryo"in the sense that we’re used to with a CLS

Correct cryo is a bad use of words as I’m certain the dry ice condenser isn’t going to true cryo temps.

The cryogenic temperature range has been defined as from −150 °C (−238 °F) to absolute zero (−273 °C or −460 °F), the temperature at which molecular motion comes as close as theoretically possible to ceasing completely. Cryogenic temperatures are usually described in the absolute or Kelvin scale, in which absolute zero is written as 0 K, without a degree sign. Conversion from the Celsius to the Kelvin scale can be done by adding 273 to the Celsius scale.

Could one not pull vacuum on a soxhlet to perform extractions at lower temperatures? You’d need a much lower condenser temp of course.

I was going to tool around, but ended up moving instead.
Just play different things figure it out you know whatever

There you go!
I was kind of hoping that there was a term for the temperatures between just freezing and cryo but I can’t find anything

Edited the post, don’t want any confusion!

Yeah, good call, that could probably work. Just need a good enough vacuum to boil your solvent at whatever temp you want to extract at, and a condenser that is at least 20 C colder than your desired extraction temp. Never seen it done personally!

If I ever get my beefy -40° chiller back online and my stainless soxhlet built I might have to try that.

I always wanted to try this. No reason you couldn’t do it, even at room temp with very mild vacuum

Glass was always my biggest fear with it, but fuck around and all that…
Best laid plans etc
