Xeno Ex centrifuge?!?

Bossman insisted I order a VFD today, I walked about 40ft and stubbled over one…

It’s in a black control box with “Xeno Ex” on it. there’s a 7.5HP vfd and a large resistor in there. it is NOT “explosion proof” (so the “Ex” means?!?).

looks like a centrifuge controller to me (because it comes with free toaster oven).

did XD ever sell such a thing? maybe 2-3 years ago (it’s NOT new  )

I know they have a fuge at the moment, but it seems to have a more appropriate housing for the controller.

I don’t seem to have the centrifuge that goes with it, but can’t think of anything else that would require a braking resistor (toaster oven).

curious what I should be looking for…not sure how there could be a 300-450mm fuge around here without me knowing it, but the control box managed to sneak in, so maybe there is a fuge that goes with it somewhere.

Check their website on archive.org? Maybe it was crawled when they sold such a thing

Ex is the chinese “explosion proof” denotation, and no it means nothing.

Doh! Yeah, I know that trick.

I also asked @ChangMinXD directly.

Gotta snap a picture…

indeed. the free toaster oven included in the box makes that infinitely clear to one practiced in the art.

Nah I was being lazy…

I also have the distinct impression that I’ve actually touched this controller in another facility…that it was surplus there, and now it’s found it’s way into my junkyard/playground.

…there were a 1/2 dozen random centrifuges where I first saw it. We have none of them.

I really don’t need to know it’s origin to cannibalize it, I’m just curious…

(wayback machine no help. ask future instead).

The picture will help confirm but I am pretty sure it was for a centrifuge. Thanks!
