Why Are Concentrates and Cannabis So Much!!!

Back in the early 90s I was paying $200 for an oz of seedy mids. Kind bud was in the $400 an oz range. Gold was also around $400 an oz.

Today gold is $1400 an oz, and kind bud is around $200 an oz.

So while Cannabis is insanely overpriced, it has come down in cost dramatically in the last 30 years.

I may or may not have been lead on popping the initial 2000 or so beans at that location by the power plant.

I once asked our 6 figure consultant if the red blinking tower lights would cause a hermi issue, i was told it was a non issue.

3 months later doing trim check ins at my new job at the extraction lab, we recieved a drop from my old employer.

Totes upon totes of seeded buds. To say that i had a laugh would have been an understatement.

Nothing wrong with that

Whole bunch of business idiots out there. Everyone will see in the end, dispenseries will go away. People will buy from local growers who habe great reputations. Dispenseries are a fad. Commercialized stuff. Its the same game as craft beer. All these small time craft local beer brewing companies. Thats how the weed game will end up. People are already questioning dispenseries etc. So many lie about testings etc. Bunch of bs. Ive nvr needed to go to a dispensery. You either in the loop or your not

Um what. That analogy makes no sense. I still go to the store to buy craft beer. I don’t go to the brewer’s house to get it. You don’t need personal connections to buy craft beer.

Where im from, you go right to the craft brew place that actually makes the beer. They sefve you there and you can buy it and bring it home. Its not mass produced either. I dont drink, but ive gone woth my buddies. It’s a culture. Then those that go and pick up beers there, are all tight nitched amd trade beer from other craft breweries they been to. And thats really how connections are workimg here. You have your small crew, thats it.

I mean i do that too but they don’t usually sell bottles

Also, how we write hete on ablog or whatever its called, there is no tone from a person. Maybe at times when myslef or others communicate, thetes something lost in the communication.

But average joe drinks bud light and buys it at the grocery store.

I’m not trying to go to a dispo, but I’m not trying to buy growlers of buds at a hipster bar with a see through wall into a flower room either

I go to breweries all the time but a lot of them also sell bottles at the local grocery stores if they’re popular. Believe me i live in Portland there are like five microbreweries within walking distance of me. I still go to the store when i want bottles to keep at my house long term or take to a party and a lot of them are locally brewed.

Also there are dispensaries that the owners also grow too. I went to a dispensary a couple months ago that had 6 strains that were all in house

@lexur5139, your experience is definitely is the minority, you’re talking about a major urban area that is known for things like craft beer. There are tons of places like that in the Denver area too, but from my experience that’s not the trend out east.

Most people go to the liquor store to get beer, beer itself is actually declining is sales as well nationally. As @CreativeAlias stated, the vast majority of people drink bud, or some other cheap booze. People are gonna do the same thing with pot imo.

It’s a convenience factor. As long as the prices aren’t too far apart. In Oregon the dispensaries are so cheap I can’t find a dealer who is any cheaper. So if that’s the case it’s a no brainer. Let’s imagine i’m hanging out with a bunch of people. Oops, the weed ran out. What am I going to do? Call my weed guy who could be somewhere way out of town? Or, just walk to the dispensary that is a five minute walk away and cheaper and has at least an OK selection. That convenience will never go out of style any more than a 7-11 will. It’s practically an essential utility at this point.

There are some caveats though. This situation is not the same in all states. In some states excessive taxation or low number of licenses makes the dispensaries way above black market price. Then of course a connection will come in handy. Also in Oregon there is not much A+ grade weed in dispensaries. There is some though. If I find really choice stuff at a dispensary I pick up a lot because it may not always be available.

…don’t forget that in OR, (essentially) anyone gets to grow up to four plants if they chose, so some folks are never going to use those Expen$iaries.

edit: OMFG the shop I hit in Vegas last week…$50 for a 1/2gram cart that tasted like it was cut with PG. never again!

Yeah I do that too. But what expensary lol. I bought an oz for $40 and I think it was better than what I grew in my yard probably.

I started growing before I was allowed to because it was less risky than dealing with the type of people in the black market. And quality/cost.

I became a medical marijuana patient and caregiver in 2012. I met a patient in a dispensary parking lot to sell them an ounce once. I was going to go in and check it out, but there was a line, and I didn’t feel like waiting around. So I haven’t even been in a Maine dispensary yet. But there are only 8.

I probably won’t be renewing my caregiver license in 2020. I am looking at growing other 21+ year old Maine residents 3 recreational plants for them in a co-op type situation.

Nobody gets craft beer atva liquor store here. Pa, nj, mass, DE, VT, all states you go to brewery place itself to get the beer. Headytopper out of VT, great example. As for nugs, i get from a few specific growers i met along the way when we did tours ofbshops across america for a wholesale distribution supply company.

Ask any craft brewery that actually has bottles in the stores what gets them more business. My local craft brewery was Ninkasi. Then they started bottling and i can get them at safeway now. They still have the brewery but i guarantee they make 100x more money on the bottle sales.

Not sure what else to say man, I get your personal experience and anecdotes, but facts are facts. Any craft item, no matter what, is always going to be a niche product.

And you talk about getting nugs from personal contacts across the country? What normal mj user has those kind of connections? You’re taking your personal experiences and extrapolating them to the normal everyday joe.

Argue and disagree till your blue in the face, but there is not small batch revolution coming…
