Yeah but right in the email it says i opted in via their website. Serious question - does that extend to eventbrite too?
Careful now that kind of language undermines the stability of operations
This kind of butthole bigotry will not be tolerated. Butthole pics are always an appropriate retort.
We all already know @DapperDabMan is a dick sucker. Just calm down and let the real men do the work now, buddy.
It could to an extent as I’ve seen some companies pull some slippery shit in that regard. I can’t speak specifically to Eventbrite’s ToS, but the attendee list is bound to be available to the organizer so it might be out of Eventbrite’s hands with what the organizer does with the list.
That’s a bit more problematic & considerably loose ethically. Those opt-in disclaimers should be precise according to best practices. I think there are too few companies in the industry who have had to deal with ramifications from GDPR violations & that’s indicative of it.
At the end of the day, the relationship with a customer needs to be built on trust & this is a surefire way to take a step backwards from a marketing standpoint.
I don’t mind cold calls, I get it, we’re all upstart at one point. What I do mind is my data being sold. Got a similar call today, not from Brett, but I’m sure they got my info in a similar way.
This forum is the smarmiest it’s ever been for a ton of reasons, but I definitely think the leadership has gave less of a shit in my time here the last 5 years+
Don’t think your DM are off limits, forsure they are drooling about how much money they can make off some of them.
It went from no ads to super fucked up ads to now, we pretty much do anything to make money.
If you guys were using sidco-approved phones your data would be secure
@IlluminatedExtractor can you share where you got this contact list?
I just checked the email address I used for the GLG 2022 Vegas party on Eventbrite & I’ve got 16 marketing emails from Illuminated in there since 2022.
EDIT: I also have 20 from Solvent Direct on that email address within that timeframe.
5.5 Organizers.
In addition, when you register for an event, sign up for communications, enter a contest, or otherwise input your Personal Data (such as through a web form) to communicate with an Organizer or participate in an Organizer event, that Organizer will receive that information. For instance, if you input your name and email address into a web form for an Organizer offer, activity or event, the Organizer will receive that information. The Organizer may then send you marketing or other communications, which may be subject to its own, separate privacy policy. Likewise, if you provide your mobile phone number, you may receive information messages related to the service, event, activity or information in which you’ve expressed interest.
When you purchase tickets to, register for or donate to an event, transfer an event ticket or registration to another person, enter a contest, or otherwise input your Personal Data (such as through a web form), or otherwise communicate with an Organizer, or participate in or express interest in an Organizer or Organizer event or activity, that Organizer will receive the information you provide, including your Personal Data, and where a ticket or registration is transferred, the Personal Data of the transferee as well. Other third parties that are involved in or on whose behalf an event or activity is promoted, may receive that Personal Data as well. For example, as to fundraising pages, we may provide your Personal Data both to the Organizer charity of the fundraising page and the Organizer of the event to which the fundraising page is linked. In some instances, an Organizer may appoint a third party, which may or may not be affiliated with the Organizer, to create an event or fundraising page on its behalf (we call these third parties (“Third Party Organizers”).
For example, and without limitation, a concert venue (the Organizer, in this case) may allow third party promoters or production companies (the Third Party Organizers) to create events that will be hosted at the Organizer’s venue using its Eventbrite account. In that case, we may provide your Personal Data to the Third Party Organizers on behalf of the Organizers. The same is true for contests and sweepstakes: we may provide your Personal Data to both the Organizer promoting the contest or sweepstakes, and any legal sponsor of the contest or sweepstakes (such as a brand sponsor).
We are not responsible for the actions of these Organizers, or their Third Party Organizers (or other downstream recipients of your Personal Data), with respect to your Personal Data. It is important that you review the applicable policies of the Organizers, and if applicable and available, their appointed Third Party Organizers, of an event (and the related fundraising page, if applicable) before providing Personal Data or other information in connection with that event or related fundraising page. Similarly, if you are a member of an Organizer’s organization within Eventbrite, your Personal Data will be available to the Organizer and shared with those Third Party Organizers granted permission by the Organizer to view all members of the Organizer’s organization.
There was no privacy policy addendum on the glg portion, I can’t recall ever consenting for my data to be shared/sold for a glg event, just a media waiver 3-4 years ago
Getting spammed on your email and phone = living the good life.
Not to mention you are now on a list getting passed around to everyone. It’s kinda like WKU reselling sops, but with your personal info instead.
im wondering why none of these companies ever say where the call or email list came from…
some real shady shit. at the end of the day… this isnt the worst spam i get on a daily basis. From bullshit calls… to bullshit text and emails… it could be worse
BUT… i will say… if a person or company isnt honest about how they collect and use data… what else are they hiding??
sir, we do not accept handjobs or butthole pics as payment
nice puckerhole though
Those waivers got tossed in the fire that night
GLG affiliates get an annual members email list. That list has never been sold. Nobodies phone number has ever been shared, and I personally don’t have access to any email lists from the forum.
Its almost like our data is being sold by the same forum that now has ad’s being posted on it.
