Pretty cool looking machine for the coating; definitely some serious engineering, though some seemed a little patchy looking.
Throughput looks around 500-700/hr; hopefully that throughput can justify the value add.

Apehex recently released a rolled-style machine - similar to the Blackbird. Depends on the throughput you’re looking for though, since this is on the low end. But the quality looks great and I think they go for ~$50k or so.

I’d say the concept of an automated machine rolling joints would be the only similarity to the Blackbird. I haven’t seen one of these out in the wild yet, although I did see one at a trade show recently. It’s an exact copy of this Turkish mini cigarette machine: https://www.tobroller.com/
Or maybe they just bought the rights to sell them in the US? Its interesting to me that Josh Kesselman always talks about how cones are so much better than rolled joints, and yet he owns Apehex and has been promoting this machine.
