What to do with fractions piling up

What’s everybody doing with their terpene/ solvent fractions ? I have collected some from several short path runs I thought about running back through the short path trying to possibly fraction out some Valuable terps if possible maybe put the receiving flask under dry ice to fraction out volatiles? What do you all think . The two fractions are one of stinky terps and one of mostly solvent some terps .Thanks for your help

If you really hated someone you could dump it in someones car…that would teach em!

I am not sure your going to have good luck getting anything usefull from those.Heat destroys alot of the terpenes.

Great question @Terpjesus (love the name). I wonder what disposal terpenes that are highly degraded and ripped apart from the heat are classified under. I highly doubt re-disitliling those fractions will be worth it to get the small amount of intact terps are left. I cant imagine what the smell produced from an entire rbf of heads distilling under vacuum would be like.

I would also like to add to this discussion what to do with the end tails fraction (230C+) that is piling up as well. I have a couple mason jars of end tails dissolved in Isopropyl that I have no idea what to do with.

Could you talk a little more about the fractions, because a smelly fraction is generated? the fraction does not serve to make another process ??? of a crude sample, only a single cannabinoid can be distilled, is it not possible to run the product twice to distill cbd and thc from the same sample?

Try mixing activated carbon to your tails and run it again. Ac in BF.

it is very difficult to separate THC from CBD via distillation. their BP are quite similar to begin with, and once you get down to molecular distillation vac range, their bp get closer, because their MW are identical.

least that’s my current understanding

AC will also scavenge some thc.

if you had In House analytics you’d know what was in there (cannabinoid wise) and could decide whether it was worth going again.

the client tails i peaked at this weekend looked to be in the 40% cannabinoid range.

week one with their new WFE…

they’re doing it right and getting an HPLC in shortly.

If you do more pre-processing before you run it in short path, you will get a much better quality terp.
Otherwise your tile will be full of burn out stuff.

congratulations! you now have a very large jar of dark, kinda stinky vacuum grease.
