What is the price for heating transfer oil?

I got a quote that therminol 66 is $1500 for 15gallon, this is insane!!! Is there any other dude having same headache? what do you use?

Why do you need such a high temp transfer fluid?

Canola oil is $40/5 gallons at Costco and has a smoke point of something like 425 or 450 f

Try duratherm directly from the manufacturer. Don’t use canola lol

what is the cost

Do you need to reach a temp of 650F? Thermal fluids with lower max use temps should be less expensive. I sell Therminol XP Heat Transfer Fluid for $1,085.00 per 15-Gallons, but the max use temp on that is 600F

I use dynalene products. But back to the question everyone wants to know, why so high of a temp transfer fluid? What temp setpoint? Open system?

Can I pretty please with a cherry on top send you comparative quotes for dynalene?

Sure, how much per 5 gal pail of dynalene MV?

Sweet working on getting some pricing now, of course we don’t currently carry dynalene MV lol, but I will talk with management to get that on the product line. I won’t bother ya until I have pricing to send over though!

Bro what - just go to duratherm website I’m not their sales guy. It’s good fluid, cheaper than $100/gallon.

We’ve gotten Duratherm down to 550/5gal on their Duratherm S. It should work for your application if you’re looking at using therminol 66. The upside is that we really only need to make that purchase once a year. Even our open baths take at least a year to display any contamination or degradation. It’s worth it in my experice to buy once cry once as far as thermal fluids are concerned.

Unless theyre going really cold or really hot, Duratherm S is overkill. If they’re operating from like -10C to 100C (pretty standard range for more casual rxns/processes) then Duratherm G-LV is half the price. Duratherm S is perhaps Duratherm’s most expensive, widest range open bath fluid…but its totally unnecessary unless you’re running above 135C or below -10C.

@eyeworm all very true! @ExtractionMate A little more info would help us help you. What temps are you trying to hit with your fluid and for how long? Do you need to do this process for the foreseeable future or is this a one off project?
