What is the difference between CAT 2 and CAT 3 distillate?

Can anyone provide a detail explanation?

Between 2017 and 2018 you could sell distillate IN CALIFORNIA with certian amounts of certian pesticides considered cat 2. Rules changed after a period of time and now cat 3 or category 3 testing panels are required. Meaning most pesticides are banned to a specific action level.

This is a very simple version of it.

One of the many differences is price.

Cat 2 thc distillate is around $600 per kg

Cat 3 thc distillate is around $900 - $1100 per kg.

Outside of the California Rec market, the terms are essentially meaningless, and presumably lies.

A) it is legal Ca distillate in an illegal location. (Why would the seller claim that? What is the probability it’s true?)

Or

B) it’s not (and they’re lying and saying it is).

Is it pesticide free by Cat 3 specs?

Why would you believe that?!?
