I’m new to cls so bear with me… what happens when you run the solvent threw the materal tube a second time after reclaiming the solvent I feal like when I pull material out of the column it still has crystals in it I’m running 5lb BhoGart system. Thank u for reading…

Kief is 30% THC roughly, the other 70%is spent pollen…if it’s golden oil sticky at bottom half column that’s oil though
When you say it still has “crystals” you mean trichs, correct? Take what your looking at look at it under a microscope. My spent material is full of what looks like dry kief. The difference is its very light like a powder.

So in laimans turns do u think it’s a good idea to run it twice or just trash it?

Honestly there are alot of variables to consider if you want to run twice. I like 10:1 tane material. But i also run -105f everthing. Running that cold your not pulling alot of fats. There warmer you run the more you pull with less tane. Evetything cold and fast gets you a beautiful clean product. But sometimes you can leave stuff behind if you go to fast. I have had 20 t0 25 grams return on the second push with 2 1lb columns. But it took less than 5 mins for 6lbs of tane to pass through that column. Then i have only gotten 2 to 5 grams on 2 1lb column on my second push. Those times it took me 15 to 20 mins for the tane to pass through.
Also side note if you do decide to do a second pass its going to be darker than the first so i separate the 2 passes. I also refreeze my column inbetween the passes so i pull less fats on the second pass.

I run a smaller 1lb CLS. I also run top shelf indoor flower that i grow. I run fast and cold with a nitro push. I am only running for head stash here…time isnt a big issure. I will empty and repack the column for a second run. I find it is worth it, in my situation. If you run your material a second time…you will quickly find out if it is worth your labor.

I have a 1lb work horse also. I find its best to have multible columns prepacked on dry ice ready to go. That way you can swP them and there is less time for the material to warm up

Test your flower and the concentrate that should give you a good idea if your leaving anything behind

I first learned to make crystalline by doing a typical run and then right after I drop all the solvent out of the material column into my collection pot, I fill it right back up with another load of solvent and let that soak the entire time im recovering my first run… I do my typical pour off for the shatter runs that were being asked to be produced and then put the collection pot back together, repull vac and drop the second run into the collection pot… and used that as experimentation material. theres definitely still goodies in there… but you also definitely start pulling fats and lipids after a bit
do you vac your columns down before you freeze them ?

so for each column you have you have end caps and valves? ive got multiple columns but just one set of endcaps/valves so I am curious about pre-freezing my columns without them in a vacuum seems like that would cause condensation inside of the columns…
Sometimes I’ll do a second run through if I feel it may be worth it. As stated before it will come out dark.
I’ll then pack that into 25 micron steel mesh bags and Do a rosin press isolate tech to remove the undesirables and it leaves me with this

I’ve been running my material twice lately. Once I made the mistake of waiting a few weeks before running it again, it came out almost black and completely unstable. It wouldn’t crystallize at all, but it probably decarbed whatever was left anyway since it sat in the shed at over 100* before I decided to run the tube again.
Since then I do a normal run, recover and pour for diamonds, then do a quick wash of the material again and this typically yields me around 2-4g of half decent exctract, darker but still has good flavor and potency. I don’t weight my input material, it’s just a 18x1.5 column. Generally get around 15g on the first pull. The second run is usually just purged normally and used to dab in the meantime while the crystals are forming from the main run.
To me the 2-4g second wash is worth it simply because I already have everything set up to run, ice is still cold, butane runs in a loop, so why not spend another 45 minutes on it? Sure it’s a B grade product but it does what it needs to for me! If I did this for a living I doubt I’d waste the time on it though.

I do not hVe end caps so I pak the columns and put it in the freezer only for one nite so I do not get condinsation… Then vac dwn when I put the cls together @loudgardens
