What are the best terpene brands out there ? Trying to make my own carts and moonrocks for personal use !
Why would you add botanical terps, or any additional terps, to moon rocks? Take bho, place on a candle warmer/hotplate etc, dip bud, roll in sift
Agreed. You should use a nice terpy concentrate for your moonrock glue. Some people use melted shatter, some just use regular old distillate. It’ll hold together much better and be safer in the heat than an unnatural amount of terpenes. I think this is something to be especially mindful of for something the end user is going to smoke, not vape. Combustion is going to degrade all those extra terpenes more aggressively. The amount of terpenes you can add safely is not going to be enough to thoroughly coat your buds.
As for carts, that’s a bit of a different story. Definitely a matter of preference. I think you’d be best off tracking down some affordable hemp terpenes from someone in here and starting there as you dial in your process. Use those as a base and if you want to add a pinch of some fruity flavored terpenes then you can do that. There’s this guy on here who goes by the name of StoneD (legend has it he gets stoned sometimes) that may be able to help you come up with some ideas for blending if you want to get techy with it. He’ll find this thread sooner or later because you said the magic word.
I think hemp terpenes are probably best for training wheels. Not nearly as expensive as regular canna derived but not going to be as harsh when you’re learning your ratios like the fruity stuff you’ll get from a website.
Exactly what @stoopkid said. Use hemp as your base, try to find the Gassiest hemp terps and that usually makes great blends. My personal preference has been 50% cannabis derived, 30% hemp and 20% botanical/flavoring. Used at about 8% terps/ 92% disty.
For moon rocks id advise using disty or slabs of shatter mixed with the same blend above at a ratio of 75% disty/25% terps. Or use HTE instead of the terp blend to keep it fully cannabis derived
