Because (and I mean absolutely no offense to anyone here) people are dumb! Other industries do what they can to drive the costs to be more affordable for both producers and consumers.
However for some reason, in this industry, if your cuts aren’t absurdly priced than it must not be a good pheno. The people I work for faced allot of flack for offering the solid ass genetics that we offer at a very reasonable price! We’re all about access, and everyone should be at this point. The more points of access for the normal person, the faster legalization will happen.

If buying clones is financially viable to you, who are any of us to tell ANYONE how they should spend their money. If buying hype genetics makes you happy, do your thing!!! If popping seeds makes you happy, do your thing!!!

The only thing that matters is if you turned a profit (whether you sold it all or grew it for cheaper then you could buy it), how you got there is completely up to you
It’s the American Way! But seriously: that’s society nowadays. If someone can make money off an item, there will be someone trying to sell said item for as much as any idiot will pay.
I see the same thing with designer snakes (sounds weird but it’s a huge $$$ market), if you have something unique and keep it exclusive by pricing it high then it builds up hype and demand. Eventually someone with too much money is going to buy in.

I know they can be cloned technically but finding a keeper pheno and keeping it around and knowing what it’s like finished before pollinating are impossible (caveat: using traditional breeding methods, maybe there is a hi tech solution). I’ve also read they can be stressed heavily and kept in veg that way. No idea if that’s true.
