As the title say s I am about to get into waterwashing fresh biomass for trichromes
Althou there are plenty of units offered none
Piqued my interest since I dislike their design
Things I consider needed
Mixing although most have a decent impeller at the botom it make it hard to have a false botom or basket implemented
What’s your thought
When looking at off the shelf units
You see the high rpm impeller models or the slower rpm models
Wich do you prefure ?
I only see models with different mixing options but no units with high pressure nozzles under the water line ?
I had good succes before with high pressure nozzle s and mixing
Water circulation so trichromes are a bit denser than water and sink I think that washing vessels should be wider but less height making the path of sinking as short as possible !
What are your thoughts ?
Circulation of washing water helps in getting the goodies in the sieves
Yet so far I have not seen sufficient pumping power or water exhaust of sufficient diameter to my liking
Would you agree that a surplus of water circulation would help ?
Water is injected in most systems back into the washer from one point only
I thin that if water was flowed back into the washer from multiple points the down wards flow could be better by spreading the water inlets in the washing tank
And at last all recommendations you have when designing a unit please share

I think a high pressure nozzle might rupture trichomes leading to a reduced yield. Idk. I like many of the currently available machines, especially sambo creek. It would be hard for most of us to design anything better.
What sucks is the price point.

Whistler Tech is on the bleeding edge of innovation, IMO.
Most others are on top or off to the side of best-in-modern-times.
There are innovations left to be done, don’t get me wrong, but having played around with some concepts, I can say for certain that there is likely no grand increase in yields to be had through design alone.

Machines save labor costs, but if you have access to very low cost labor, that minimizes the benefits of automation. The best way for you might be a hybrid of full auto vs fully manual.

My main issue is size available and I know some folks that have some better sized unit s 1000L > wich is my goal as well
But I have not see n any design that I like

Depends. I think a false bottom to store trichs is a must - high RPM is debatable depending on what type of agitation you have. There’s a few different ways you could go regarding this route and how full you intend to run the vessel each time. If you’re trying to simply wash hash under the merit of a vortex the ability to go high RPM would be great but I do think that a squared vessel is the way to go these days if vortex-ing simply because the edges give it a bit of agitation without having to directly whack any of the plant material. If you have no force hitting the biomass such as a paddle or something of the like, it’s a tall ask for a single direction vortex with no sort of turbulence to effectively dislodge trichs. I also very much like alternating directions which is something I really like to do while washing by hand, being able to alternate that would add another form of gentle turbulence that would help a lot. As far as draining something like that i’m a big fan of gravity feed and gravity feed and gravity feed. If with a false bottom you get enough crap out of the way where it doesn’t need to be pumped - if it does need to be moved a distance I’d just use another res to have it fed into and then pumped from there to the last destination but that also leaves the very real possibility of transfer loss unless you just spray the damn thing out and dump the rest into the res you’re pumping into but at that point you’ve lost any efficiency you had by using the intermediary res. Or maybe I just like it straight into the bags because i’m a big dumb animal - either way if you have a false bottom gravity feed is the tits.
Now as far as recirculation I’m not exactly sure if anyone is widely doing this. While visiting at LTP awhile ago I was told that they were aware of people using recirculated water chillers with the mini osprey which was extremely interesting to me so there is that possibility if you’re able to find some sort of pump with a heavy enough motor in it that you’d be able to recirculate big fucking amounts of water effectively and for a sustained amount of time. Honestly I think the taller the better too because if you think about it the biomass usually floats to the top if frozen - if you give yourself more headspace you have far more room for the trichs to fall and collect in the false bottom vs getting trapped in layer upon layer of bio. But to be clear I think the best shape is a softly squared design like on the osprey/mini osprey which eliminates any need for direct bio whackin`. Honestly the BEST shape would be like a pharmacy bought Isopropyl alcohol bottle. Enough room for the motor to have sufficient insulation that you don’t make the hash being washed a nasty mess via heat transfer yet enough space above that left over that you can have a false bottom that’s worth a damn with plenty of room for the bio above it.
