Water Clear THC Turning Pink and Purple

Hey All,

Long time lurker, first time poster. Been in the industry a few years and am working on a Hexane Salt Water Wash to get “Water Clear” and we’re finding that the oil will oxidise pink or purple. I think it’s because of the pH and I’ve had some friends of mine recommend that if we dissolve the oil in ethanol, test the ph and then alter it until it’s arouund 7.1 then we should be able to prevent the oxidation.

For those that have tried this, what’s everyone’s experience with this?

You can also do your last pass thru sodium bicarbonate to even out your ph

I assume you mean wash it in a water and Baking soda mix? Or add it to the flask and distill?

Any thoughts on if it’s turning purple? I believe that’s a sign of a more basic oil.

Ya last wash in the sodium. I dont make water clear but if you do the wash with 1st pass it will be water in carts just not bulk jars, they have a light yellow tint. In my experience if you do a good wash
