So someone that I sold some distillate to wanted to dilute it apparently and added VG to it and it curdled up. Only difference on this batch of distillate is we did citric acid degumming, but we corrected the pH before the first distillation and then distilled it a second time.
I don’t add dilutants to my distillate normally, but this was a buyer and they added about 30% VG.
Vg is the worst. From my experiments Typically it’s needed at around 2:1 ratio vg:dist to stay in homogeneous mixture without separation.
Vg, PG and peg are water soluble and can be separated out from the distillate quite easily. I would do that and tell your client to use a different cutter
How viscous is the media (Distillate & VG) @80C? can you heat up the distillate/VG to 80C and take a video pouring the media from one beaker to another? This will help determine if homogenization is possible.
There’s a method we discovered via heat cycling and homogenization that may work for keeping the VG from crashing out of the distillate for up to 90 days. One caveat, this method works for BHO/VG sublingual tincture solutions, it may not be possible for distillate/VG.
