I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for ball valves for dry ice cold ethanol. I’ve been using a 3/4 npt denford valves without failure for the last 3 extractions but I see they are only rated to -40F. I’m still working to bring my process temp down closer to dry ice temps but I’m worried about failure as temps drop. It seems like catastrophic leakage is unlikely as there is no pressure just cold ethanol. Should I keep using the same valve or are there better options under 100$.

I know Parker makes cryogenic ball valves not sure how much they cost but I doubt it’s cheap.

If they leak it will be through the packing stem, depending on the model you have this can be adjusted.

That’s what I was thinking. Shouldn’t you be able to get that bitch cold, and then crank down on the nuts to really get it tight. I could see it swelling back out though, and being a real pain to operate at normal temps. But I know nothing! I’m just working with common sense here, and not hands on…
