I have been diagnosing poor vac performance on our Wiped film disty unit and while the roughing pump
pulls well I can’t get full vac when I kick in the diffusion pump. I have isolated the system so that I am only measuring directly from the Diffusion pump but as basic as these units are I have a hard time believing that it is the issue. I have thoroughly cleaned and changed the oil to no avail.
I then attached the vac sensor directly in line with the roughing pump (the rest of the system is completely removed) save for a valve in between.
As you can see in the video link below, as soon as I close off vac to the sensor I lose my vacuum.
It this normal or is my sensor faulty? I have reached out to techs at Vacuubrand but have gotten no response as of this posting.
