There are cylindrical heating mantels for beakers and reaction bottles you could probably find one on eBay
Good tip I’ve made that fuck up as well. Mason jars suck balls for heat and cold. I thought they would survive a little abuse because they are made for canning but they don’t
They’re just fine if you’re making a 3$ jar of jam. But even a 1/100 or 1/1000 chance of a jar breaking just isn’t worth it lol.
Hell I had half of my big ass mason jars break just in the dishwasher lol
Also, my best tip for an oil warmer is an Excalibur food dehydrator. Just pop your Mason jars in, set it to 40c. And hour later everything is nice and runny
It just seems like 90% of all distillate trade uses those half gallons.
Food dehydrator fits that np
Having grown up in a household that canned 400 - 600 quarts of fruit every summer and never had an issue with breaking a mason jar unless dropping one, they handle heat to boiling (212 f) with no issues as long as you are not putting overheated materials in when cold, (my buddy didn’t wait until a flask had cooled down to 200-ish f, and it immediately showed it’s displeasure)!
I put distillate in mason’s to clear out flasks, and then later heat up to pour out by putting in boiling water to get to temp and have never had one break 32oz or 64oz
I was at a company that had a big glass flask of CO2 oil they had been heating in an oil bath. The guy then tried to get the heating oil off in the sink, running cold water over the flask. It then immediately shattered and all the oil went right into the sink. Probably 2kg.
