Tricks of the trade

so you just cut up from the bottom to make a split? I hadnt heard of that. I thought i invented peeling as i havent heard of it either other than peeling down fromm a node. How long is your slit? LOL

About a 1/2". Take the cutting right above the node at a 45 degree angle, then make a vertical split about 1/2" up through the middle of the xylem so that youā€™re cutting through both the shortest and longest sides of the cutting. We found it to improve success somewhere around 10%. It also seems to produce a more hearty set of trunk roots, closer to what a seedling would make (the last part we didnā€™t quantify, thatā€™s just gut)

If you have really stuck on oil residue on glasswear I add a little bit of etoh and plastic wrap the top and put it in the oven for a little while the alcohol will reflux and get those hard to clean spots.

This works really well. Saw murph do a video using a bead bath for the heat and it was pretty slick. She used aluminum foil

Hell ya Murph knows all the hot tips. Her, Dustin and Kyle are the gurus of cannabis extraction IMO.

i think i peeled but ill check but the so called stubborn payton roots in less than a week. I may have done the cut thing and if so THANKS ill report back the currently rooted are in soil already.

So a lot of folks have oxidation issues with
High 90+ distillates made with tiba as reagent
As a solution with good results
I now place 3-7% thc bho crc. Inside the receiving flask before I start to distil and keep this flask cold during the run
The distillate drops in and mixes (when a magnet mixer is placed underneath
And when vacuum is broken the distillate keeps it a faint yellow color a lot better
The usual ring of death appears but not the purple heu often seen

When extracting in the sticks in the sticks you are forced to learnā€¦ one thing Iā€™ve learned is that the propane/propylene mixture in your lp tanks is suitable for extraction if you treat it properly.

Neutralization of mercaptans from cheap ā€œPropaneā€ is a simple process.

Copper scrubby pads have this twisted loop (I hit it with a black sharpie so you can see what Iā€™m talking about) that holds them together, if you untwist them and then unroll them you get a big copper sock like this.

I like to unroll two copper scrubby pads and stuff an unrolled copper pad into one of the socks like this

Then I slide this sock into the other unrolled sock like this.

Then I fold it in on itself

Then once more

Perfect for stuffing like 10 of these into a 3" column.
Distilling gas station propane through that column will neutralize all the mercaptans.

Do you clean the scrubbies before using them to remediate the mercaptans? Iā€™m familiar with using them for sulfur remediation, but I always clean them first.

Yeah I always clean em with a citric acid solution after rolling these up before putting them in the column.

So

Suck it

does this really work?

Yes, it does.

Have you even had your gas station gas tested after doing this to confirm?

Yes, my boss wouldnā€™t give me the OK to use it for extraction until I got it tested.

Thatā€™s cool I havenā€™t seen one done like that yet ā€¦thatā€™s how I do my filter papersā€¦ usually 2-4 papers so the ring is tight

Idk man I know it supposed to work but Iā€™d probably buy cases of whip it off eBay or have company like solvent direct or gas logic ship s tank to the house

Seems like a membrane of sorts would be needed but Iā€™m not chemistry major

Does it not need to soak in the copper

Like filling ur empty collection pot and material column w these then distill into clean tankā€¦the ones in the pot would help for more contact time

Lolā€¦ to each there own. Iā€™ll spend $5 on the same amount of solvent youā€™ll spend $50 on. Less hassle on my end too.

No it doesnā€™t need to soak. It works better in the vapor phase.

Iā€™m not laughing in asking how good does it workā€¦so the rotten egg smell is gone?

But are u running a propane rated rigs,? Could be highly dangerous if not Iā€™m sure you are

I hate straight propane runs you really gotta leave some solvent if u wanna pour and it not mushroom up

I donā€™t do this all the time, Iā€™ve only ever had to do it once when CA banned sales.

Rotten egg is totally gone. Thats the point. Single pass removes the mercaptans.

I always add a bit of heptane to the pot to counteract this.
