Treatment of Waste water from water washes

Wondering if anyone’s came up with a clever way for treating waste water that has small amounts of solvent in it. We collect the water after a washing process, ideally if it is only water and salt it can be disposed of easily. However we keep running into a situation where small amounts of Pentane, our solvent or use, sometimes attached to sugar-like substance floats to the top of the water after sitting for a day or two. We were trying to think of a a trough or column of sorts which could be built with a sand trap to catch the oil but allow the water to pass eventually being able to put down the drain. Anyone ever build anything like this or have a method they used for waste water?

and for the visual learners out there;

wouldnt be too hard to rig something up; i would be surprised if there wasent an off the shelf solution that could work without having to build up facility infrastructure to support it.
