The C.R.V. is here! Lets talk Agitation

I add adsorbants to undiluted crude right after decarb and then dilute in methanol to winterize and filter, am I doing it wrong? seems to come out fine.

It may be more effective to dinner with a nonpolar but the mixing with no solvent might do some good

Using agitation and moderate heat will increase the efficiency of bentonite clay reducing the overall amount of bentonite necessary to clean an extract. Staged in a two crv setup you can further reduce the amount of bentonite being used by ensuring the bentonite is completely spent before being discarded/recycled.

I was thinking a staged CRV → CRC where the CRC can be used for many many runs while the fully spent CRV powders will be disposed of each run.

the problem with that is its not how much the resin the powders can withstand, its the amount of solvent it takes before the colors eluite. Given different loadings of resin and equal amounts of solvents the colors will emerge at the same time.

So you’re saying the things the t-5 grabs will elute? I can see that when it comes to the literal chromatography adsorbants, silica and Alumina, but do you think t-5 would function in the same way?

yes, they will all eventually eluite what they hold. These medias just slow down the band of color that comes through the column, granted higher loadings have thicker bands of colors. Have you experimented with mixing the powders in a heptane solution with resin vs running the solution through a column?

This is what we see with pesticides that one tries to adsorb. Unless the pesticide is polar, in the filtration step it can wash through with the material.

Question, has anyone distilled material from crude treated like this. If I’m right the molecules that cause color reversion of distillate are non-polar and might elute through a system that is simply filtered.

Distilled CRC material comes out looking really nice

Saw that on IG. I just got authorization to get a unit.

A unit of what?

A CRC for our rig.

Ah, nice. You going indofab route?

Looking at it. Good idea, bad idea?

Use a disc with a small spool section above to hold the media. It’s easier to work with, clean, load, and swap between runs.

It’s really nice, idk if the price is worth the upgrade from a standard plate with filter disk. I also like to have a sight glass where my powders are packed
