Hello. Does anyone here work in the legal Arkansas Market? If so, what is it like? I’ve read the PDF document for their laws and regulations, not the whole thing, enough to get a general understanding.
Is it a good state for a medical opportunity/opportunity in general? Oklahoma is becoming washed up, Michigan is fucking trash, The East Coast, is the East Coast and Cali is a socialist nightmare. Alaska I’ve heard amazing things about as well, my mom met a guy who is a manager for a big brand up there and I tried some Alaskan shatter, VERY good. Wondering on Arkansas now.
I am an extractor for one of the few Arkansas Cultivators. The laws here are pretty strict and I know they only gave out 4 cultivator license starting off but I think there are 5 or 6 now due to supply and demand.
Investing money in a med state assuming your investment will carry over when/if they pass rec laws is a bad idea and a gamble at best.
Oklahoma knows it’s oversaturated and it’s taxable commodity is being devalued by unchecked competition.
This will be considered when rec laws are drafted and there will either be a set amount of licenses or canopy and y’all will get to see if your name comes up in the license lottery. That is if your setup meets the zoning and municipal laws that are passed and your county or city doesn’t just opt out or pass laws to block you.
Sounds like several hundred thousand dollar lottery tickets for a pot that is only a few million and there are thousands of entrants.
There are 8 licensed grower-processors, 40 dispensaries (some of which can grow a small canopy), but they’ve recently opened up applications for processors. Getting biomass will be extremely difficult, but it’s possible to make it - I’ve put together a few deals there over the years.
I own a small processing business in Arkansas. I originally got my hemp cultivation and processors licenses as a foot in the door to the MM industry. The MM industry here is extremely pay to play and corrupt as hell. Our governor is the ex head of the DEA and our whole program is built on bribes.
All of the cultivation and dispensary licenses have been awarded. These required POF of over $1mil for cultivators and a similar amount for dispensaries. There were lots of under the table deals going down which resulted in lawsuits and the delay of our program by 2 years.
Now, the state is obligated to issue processors licenses because of a clause in amendment 98. The cultivation facilities and dispensaries don’t need a license to process, so they’re already locked in and don’t have any incentive on providing material for newly licensed processors. In fact, they’re hiring lawyers and lobbyists to try to prevent any other competition.
I was really banking on this license for my company, since the processors license is cheaper, but there’s no way to legally obtain any material other than from the facilities who refuse to provide it. Stuck in cannabis limbo for now…
Oh, and its cool to see another Arkansan in here @TerpyNugRun let’s connect.
Natural Releaf in Sherwood moves the most weight last I heard. They are in a pretty prime location to do so. Suite 443 and The ReLeaf Center are also pretty popular.
define mom and pop shops lol theres under 50 despenseries and under 10 grow facilities? none of them are mom and pop shops or my definition is a lot smaller than what yall consider mom and pop
mom and pop shops arent multi million dollar facitlies??
Also a Arkansan working as an extractor. Do you have any positions available? im tired of this “who you know” hiarchy in cannabis. im looking for somewhere i can build with ive been extracting for almost 2 years now with experience in all aspects of BHO processing
