So like shatter and wax at this amount 252 gets them to melt nicely but it still looks crystal may still be unmelted may have to spike temp again to get the rest to melt, I do know with wax if it doesnt melt it doesnt decarb, that got wasted once, I’m sure it was medicinal but not psychoactive
Stir it around a little bit to distribute the heat. Set the measuring cup flat for more surface area

I was scared to set flat cuz it will be to thin possibly, have been stirring it with the thermometer for a while now
Got em all melted at 260°f now back down to 230°f and flat letting drop to ~212°f
A magnetic stirrer and hot plate might be better for crystals
Now look how clear that is. I bet that shit turns red real quick when exposed to air.
Then get it tested.
I don’t think the orange in the last one was terps either. I think the air exposed decarbed thca started degrading ultra fast
260f is only 121c. Your not quite all the way at decarbing top temps. I imagine you still have a bit of thca in the mix but not much anymore

After it decarbs I’d imagine it has to do with breaking the carbon chain. Probably the same reason thc distillate won’t shatter either.

What if I store this in a sealed jar would that possibly prevent it?
it Should be able to prevent it if you vacuum seal it.
Yeah and distillate certainly oxidizes and converts to cbn according to @Beaker at high purity. When there are no waxes to protect it. Some wax will prevent it too

this pic is as close as I can get to what it actually looks like not quite as orange or red as the last few,
to the eye it’s super golden and only amber when it hits the light just right at the thick part
Just to update I’m pretty sure the metal halide was causing it to appear amber/red in the pictures, will have tested to find out for sure…

Ya it could be residual impurities, the diamonds were from an older no dewax run so the terps that were on them were definitely not very clean, not sure about the stones either as far as purity goes they were not the cleanest, but the smaller batch (the part in the capsule) was some of the cleanest ones I had… testing will answer alot of my questions at this point, could give it the old fashioned just eat it test but I assume that would work regardless cuz it’s not completely CBN perhaps a little though…
Looking back at the photos I can see it was clear/yellow where the terps were when first pulled from the oven, then it proceeded to get a slight amber hue after sitting out for 4 hours so I’d bet it degraded a little, its interesting that it can be seen easier in the metal halide light.
