I noticed the new controller was different, and would keep the compressor off for 60 seconds after a restart.
Might be able to fix the old controller by replacing the buttons if they are the issue.

It’s not the buttons I screwed up the board at the ribbon connector imwqs trying to solder to lol. The new control board will cure the issue though and I’ll be able to run it off a sonoff or a ts5000 controller

Thru hole PCBs are pretty forgiving. If you were just soldering at J1 it is probably fixable.
But I would also buy the newer controller.
