I checked the gauge by testing it with my prv . It’s working
Yeah you could be adding in a little bit of air and you just need to vent it from your vapor until the pressure sounds lower. That or you got some propane in there without realizing it.
I used to use a CMEP and a terpp extractor and I doubt a really full vacuum was being pulled by an old tiny vac pump and there were parts that would still have air like in the valves.
I don’t even own propane so I think it must be air . Thanks for the help
UPDATE released pressure from 90 to 55 . Pressure rose back to 65 with in 10-20 minutes . ( more filled tank has a psi of 50 ish )
Guess I should just vent off all the tanks butane of and chalk it up as a loss ?
i forgot your spiderman system needs a spiderman scale:

Place in dry ice. Vent any extra psi. Should be close to full vac if you use dry ice.
Dying!
Same bro. That was gold.
I guess I just have to ask
Was there a PRV involved??
Having a compressible gas present will run up the pressure. I would set the tanks in an ice bath and burp them via the vapor valve.
My guess would be you accidentally got a tank of propane instead of nbutane . It could have been mislabeled this would not be the first time i have heard of this.
could it be iso butane or is it possible for some of the n butane to become iso?
U did thiw while it was empty of course? Air did u add air to solvent tank…if so immediately put on dry ice then vent back to 0 once the tank is dry ice cold
That would be my guess…
Did you vac the tanks?
Do you use a pump?
Pumping air in is a thing…
Edit: and I see we’ve got @Graywolf in here already so I’ll go back to my beer…
Having now read through….(doh!)
I’m actually wondering if @Saucyslabz is correct.
Pumping air into the system because of a loose hose on the intake side DOES happen, but only if you’re using a pump.
Are you?
You distilled? did you see unusual pressures?
If some clown put the wrong hydrocarbon in your tank, @Graywolf’s “hit 0C and vent” should be informative.
What pressure does 0C give?
How about dry ice?!?
He isn’t using a pump for recovery.
You can have residual oxygen in your hoses from not vacuuming down the system properly or changing a hose mid run. I like to burp butane out of the hoses that I am unable to vacuum down. To do this, lightly loosen the jic fitting, burp, and tighten the fitting after a few seconds
I don’t have a explosion proof pump So I only use my pump to pull a vacuum . I was just distilling with regular ice .
I taped cans of butane so I don’t think there could be a Mix up there . But Sometimes i forget or am unable to pull vacuum on the lines in between tanks or in between my tank and extractor . I was thinking this air might have built up over time ?
But I just pushed the liquid into a old refrigerant recovery tank to save it and then released the vapor pressure in the original tank to atmosphere
Would like to figure out what happened though to make sure it doesn’t happen again
Thanks for your help!!!

Thank you !!! That is a great tip . Gonna do that from now on
