I’m really just spitballing, has anyone tried a steam distillation with ethanol of any other solvent to then go and fractionally distill off solvent?
Figured I’d ask because most of the time when we do solvent recovery it’s some sort of short path distillation (rotovap or ffe) which focuses on throughout and not fractionation.
I know the appeal of steam distillation with water also has the appeal of phase separation, but I’ve found a fair amount of terps are in the water, so a lower boiling solvent may do the trick. Anybody have any thoughts?
