I made a video about the economics of the Plasmastatic process. Check it out and let me know what Iām getting wrong. BHO/Ethanol labs can reprocess the tails that weāve seen contain 10-15% Cannabinoids.
looks great, how did it press?
So far we havenāt been doing any rosin, just pressing the bricks like above to prepare for its cold cure and piatella. Very strain dependent process. End Goal is to get 99% heads on the finished product and avoid pressing all together.
thats far too much contaminate for a proper piatella⦠it should make a decent hash, but not piatella quality
Well aware. As I said, we are working toward it.
I really hope you guys nail it - thatād be sick! I always considered the terps to be doing the heavy lifting whenever I made piatella which are woefully unavailable whenever I personally have done sift but for your sake i hope it works out! Always love a good brick of hash either way
Thanks dude I appreciate that, will continue to update.
Weāve been working commercially grown green house cannabis and itās certainly been a process. Weāre learning the wax load is a problem for many of the strains grown outdoor/ or greenhouse. Really prevents the terps from doing their thing, and I agree with you thatās where the special sauce is, no pun intended lol. On the strains where we see 1-5% lipid content on average they grease up quite nicely. the stuff packing 15-20% lipids not so much.
Shortcut to piatella
Take biomass prior to pollination
And pass 2x biomass weight cryo propane over
Keep terpene rich extract
Drysift biomass same grow once done add the extract terps and cold cure guess it should work
What you think @SubstituteCreature
Honestly I think itās a great idea! Since terps are a solvent as you know I feel it really does the heavy lifting in terms of just melting it all to goop. From what the pics show heās got a lot of heads so if it works out as planned youād get a nice goop and then once the terps settle in there and equalize if it works perfect you should be seeing nucleation and turn into that almost candlewax consistency. If youāre getting that consistency then BAM dead on.
Have you water washed any of the same strains FF to give it a nice A/B comparison? I know yāall down in Pueblo have TONS of real estate in terms of different farms operating in the area. Fuck thatās actually where a few of my old spots were around way out in the cut. I kinda miss it out there minus how sketchy it gets sometimes haha
But once those terps get to doin` their thing, boooooooooooooooooooooy howdy its beautiful. You can tell pretty quickly if something is going to become piatella in the first few days
This is some of the recent heads from fresh material, I believe the strain is cereal milk. The boys are definitely gaining some ground! Sheās starting to sweat pretty good
weāre hopeful on this one.
Yeah man, youāre correct on all counts lol, tons of farms, traps and sketchyness for all. Crazy little town lol I love it.
Appreciate the feedback and tips man ![]()
Now, Iām an idiot, so Iām going to need some help understanding all this, but how could one get a patent approved for a process thatās been used for decades?
How defendable/valuable is such a patent, considering the wealth of data available to us showing that differences in electrical potential have been leveraged as a separation tool for decades and decades?
To repeat, Iām not a patent lawyer/troll, just a dude in the industry thatās perplexed by all the folks attempting to profit off of old ideas, not by using the ideas to make better product, but just to profit on the idea itself.
I remember using applied charges to generate controlled variations in the static fields (triboelectric fields to be shmancy) all the way back in 2014. Did I apply for a patent? No, because it wasnāt my idea, I learned it from an old friend, and from bubblemans videos that him and that whole gang used to do.
A big ol Van De Graaff playing dueling banjos essentially, no?
Iām just questioning the utility of going through all that effort, tbh.
Anyone could just go make one of these (many have!), is Sambo Creek expressing an intent to sue for patent infringement or something now?
I canāt imagine that going too well in court.
Again, Iām just an idiot though and Iām sure thereās something Iām not understanding that would justify the work of patenting something thatās already been done.
Me too.
In my perpetual state of idiocy Iād been keen to argue the ākeyā to achieving 99% āheadsā would be to start with the plant itself instead of focusing efforts on the tech used, an effort on breeding larger capitate-stalked trichomes into cannabis would yield better results with less resistance and wasted resources⦠bonus⦠plants are free, tech isnāt.
I mean yeah, totally, but static separation has been a handy tool in the toolbox of sifters for a very long time, and not all sifters are growers.
But my commentary and concern here is really quite focused on the patenting of the tool or practice, and the questionable utility/value of having gone through the work to do so.
Fun fact about cannabis patents, including tooling and practice, the end product cannot be enforced due to the absence of international legalization in the G7.
Heck itās not even federally legal in USA.
International IP laws are not in play and wonāt be for years to come.
Preventing any entity from patenting a strain, product, or the technology used to create a cannabis product.
Best you can do is claim discovery and write it up as a ātrade secretā and protect that information if you wish to remain competitive and many do exactly that.
Even if you created an entirely new extraction method that was novel and you did patent the device behind said method, youād be unable to lay claim to cannabis products produced from utilizing said method/device.
Pretty sure I saw somewhere in the thread they said the way they generate the plasma is what they patented
