Anyone have success making stable ethanol shatter with old trim?
Try 86.5°f at a flip every 12 hours for 4 days the on the last 3 ramp it up to 115.4°f with a flip every 6 hours. Got terps and color twice doing this. The stability came from me actually keeping a parchment over the top and holding it there with binder clips for a day or so. Prior to that it was a wrap and snap. -Top Shelf starting material not old material-

Did you get a trace solvent test on it?
Do you have a comparison to butane shatter? For taste/look?
Nice! Was the material you used fairly fresh?
dried and cured properly too.
Anybody try and make shatter from 2nd pass disty?
It probably won’t “shatter” as much as it would pull and snap

It’ll never shatter unless you keep it cold lol
Just mix it w some terps and dab it raw
Would -85c be cold enough to make it do that?
I do have c02 terps that I’ve made that mix in really nice. The disty market has crashed trying to make it in to something that’s sellable.

It’s not hard this stuff was still warm from being separated. But all og terp reintroduced. Then stabilize in roto pour out & can either let cure at room temp or cold cure the resin into perfect glass.

So you reintroduced terpenes and purge those to achieve a shatter consistency? Have you found reintroduction of terps to be required to achieve shatter from material extracted with ethanol. I’ve been purging some ethanol extracted material for 2 days at 30in mercury and ~120-125F and it’s still “pull and snap” consistency.
Damn this is super helpful. I’ve made a bunch of warm wash etho crude, winterized, filtered, decarbed, deterped in roto, then 2 passes in spd. The disty is nice. I wouldn’t say the best but good quality. Normally sells no problem. I’ve been having a hell of time getting rid of it.
Now, I added 5% cold c02 separated terps, just like making pens. Warm reinterduction, not so warm 70c80c just to get it moving and evenly stirred in.
I let it cool a bit and poured onto wax paper.
First, the disty mix hardened but was still really sticky. I warmed back up in cascade oven(not vacuum) 90c for 45 mins. Then put in refrigerator, didn’t think of the freezer. Until I saw ur post above. I did this 3 times, hot, cold , hot ,cold, hot, cold.
Frustrated, and reading some responses I put in freezer.
It is much harder and not as sticky, comes off the paper fine now, but as it warms it starts to bend.
This stuff snaps really easy when cold. Just when it warms to room temp it bends more. Still solid just not crispy. Any suggestions?

No necessity no, as long as your content is proper above 75% you should be able to make a slab with glass like quality depending on strain, & given you spend a little more time in roto & up those rpm to remove any moisture.

I left in the freezer over night and it’s even better. Also it makes since that the moisture still in it is why it bends at room temp. I’m gonna try and dehydrate it again in roto and also vacuum chamber. I’ll post results later. Thank you

Your wasting your time…it WILL never be glass at room temp after decarb or distilling
The bond that makes it glass had left. The thca is now THC. Thus why disty is active
