Also for those wondering a TCD detectors is a useful detector for various things. I use ours for testing and reproofing solvents that cant be tested in a hydrometer or alcohols with water and another solvent.
for example for reproofing our flushing solvent and mobile phases that consisted of methyl acetate, methanol and water. or hexane and methyl acetate. or methyl acetate and water.
The tcd detector allows you to test water in a solvent matrix where a fid cannot.
If you’re talking about unknown cannabinoids, you want a GCMS. FID won’t provide spectral information that lets you make educated guesses
