So I made a thing to decarb with

Tri clamps supposedly rated to 250psi @ 250F.

Prv is 200 psi. Math was 7g material, 51.48cm³, 0.01468 mol CO2, 212f, pressure 127 psi.

Would putting a 22mm test tube in the vessel shatter into a million pieces?

guess that would depend on how you put it in there.

Chill it and drop it into 100C liquid hash? Quite probably.
Flame seal it at atmospheric, drop it in and take vessel up to 10bar? again, seems likely.

place in in there at rm temp, unsealed, and run a full cycle? can’t see any reason (no differential pressure) it would break.

can you be more specific? is this as an attempt to recover/contain your hash?

I’m just thinking ease of collection. Thinking of putting live resin in the test tube, place the test tube in the sanitary spool, fill with argon and close the clamp, place sealed vessel in oven @ 212f for an hour or two.

we run the rig shown above for 16-20hrs to achieve full decarb at 100-110C. air is a lousy thermal transfer medium. I doubt you’ve achieve decarb in 2hrs in an oven.

I also suspect that the form factor on a test-tube will result in much of the hash leaving the tube with the CO2, but I could be wrong on that.

Would you just go straight in then?

Thanks for the tip re time.

do you have a gauge on there?

4 x ? spool?

7g at 85% THCA ==> 5.95g THCa ==> 5.95g/358.5g/mol = 0.0166. which is close to your calc (edited)

ID of 4" spool = 3.834" = 97.38mm => 4.87cm radius.
using V = pi x r^2 x h gives ≈ 74.50884 cm^2 for a 1cm high spool, suggesting your volume is incorrect (although I might have missed again).

a 4" x 4" spool has a volume of ~50cu.in. ==> ~800cu.cm

can you please show your work?

No guage, just one female thread for the PRV.

1"x4" spool (tall and skinny)

V= h(1") π r(0.5")² = 51.48cm³

7g at 75% (guessing) THCA = 5.25g THCa
5.25g/358.5g/mol = 0.0146

that makes more sense.

https://www.glaciertanks.com/cone-adapter-21jic4-g150-cone.html + https://www.glaciertanks.com/jic-cap-tfjb-fj4.html would get you a minimalist “pour spout”.

glacier also carries NPT cones, but they are currently back-ordered.

75% THC isn’t a bad guess. 75% THCa is almost certainly on the low side.

Does your PRV have a manual release?

Otherwise relieving pressure becomes problematic…

Thank you very much.

I’m hoping that losses won’t be substantial when pouring off.

No, just the cheapest 200psi PRV on AliExpress :rofl:

That will make opening non-trivial.

Pictures of prv?

I’m betting it can be manually released…

Pulling ring releases pressure…

It’s just like that one. I was expecting a lever or something.

Your decarb set-up is sweet

Thanks. That’s rev 2 or 3.

It gets the job done. (10^6 carts sold!)

Definitely not where I want it to be yet.

The trick is figuring out how best to detect end point…because we’ve got several different vessel sizes, and loadings are never exactly the same.

Currently we are using “no bubbles”…but “no pressure change” is definitely preferred.

Someone should really make a bubble mite detector
