Small gap between boiling flask and mantle

So a follow up about my new mantle… it seems all my 2l boiling flasks have a space around them and doesn’t make full contact with the mantle. Not a huge gap but if I push the flask to one side there’s maybe 1/4” space created. I’ve seen people use sand and such when using smaller flasks that the mantle requires. But seeing as this is a 2l flask in a 2l mantle, and I have an insulating cover for the flask. Will this space make a big issue for me? I can add sand but I feel like that’s gonna be shitty to have sand all in my mantle. Should I just move ahead and insulate the flask well or will that space create problems

Same with my 5L I just cover the top in fire place rope and push it in to fill the gap, it works
