Sintered Disks for Material Column Filtration

Hey all,

Curious what you guys are using as filters for the bottom of your extraction material columns (for basic hydrocarbon extraction of dry/ff material, not CRC). I’m trying to figure out if sintered disks are the best option and if so, what micron I should get to ensure no plant particulate makes it through to my evaporation/collection tank, but still allows the solvent to flow through. I’ve been told glass wool is good but I dont want any more consumables to worry about and it looks like a pain to use.

Thanks!

You don’t need a sintered disk for that. I’ve always just used buna mesh gaskets 25-50 micron at the bottom of the material column. Never had problems.

5 micron will work too if you want a little more filtration

yea the meshes are fine, especially if you have a 1.5"-2" column, your flow will be absolutely terrible. i’ve just recently tried and opted for a small filter stack with papers and celite instead of the disc’s for material column.
