Looking for some tips to get the red out of the
|Ai 24/40 single cow adapter with PTFE valve & viton gasket| While distilling. I started to pull my main body @ 202c mantle temp, @ .696 torr, head temp was 178.5c with my
|Ai UL/CSA certified SuperVac 11 CFM 2-stage pump with exhaust oil mist. I had it open on the second stage at this point? Idk if I was pulling d-9 or possibly pulled over heads or something? The distillate had a great color while running just a bit dark at first. I did a 2 hr decarb in the mantle at 140c to prep crude after it was ran through my roto. It wasn’t the best starting material that’s for sure… looking for tips on how to improve color and potency first pass and understand vacuum to potency?
you have a vacuum leak somewhere in the system. check all orings and centering rings. i would also put a valve infront of the roughing pump for your isolation adapter. get a shorter bellow going into the cold trap, with the way you have it dipping down i guarantee your getting stuff condensing at the base of the “u” trap youve made

And swap your kf25 T so the gauge i on top so you can stretch the whole thing alil bit and keep 1 less vac restriction

What would be a good valve? I don’t currently have one? Do you no by looking at it if I was pulling the main body and about what this would test at? Just curious and yes I agree I will definitely remove the silver hose that has “u” shape thanks for the tips!! Also can’t get vac lower then.675 torr am I doing my vac correct??
Your vacuum level is way too high through mains, indicating a leak. If you are not at a much lower micron (20-40 micron during mains) with this setup you will likely be degrading significantly.
There are some people who have posted methods that involve going hotter to 240C in these situations to quickly distill, minimizing degradation.
In my lab if we are above 30 micron at the start of mains on first pass we shut down. Ideally we will be sub 20 micron.

tips on achieving better vac with my setup? The pump has 2 stages I’m not sure if I’m actually introducing the stages at the correct times
did you remove chlorophyll from the solution via activated carbon or other means before distillation?
