Whats the longest run times anyone has seen for subcritical co2 extraction? We are currently at 6hr/lb
Totally dependent on material, whether or not you decarbed, pump speed, temperature, etc.
We have mainly been running medical marijuana dried flower with some leaf in it non-decarbed. Temps range from 85f to 120f towards end of run. Not sure on the pump speed. Just finished a run and took it down to 91% thc distillate but only yielded about 50%-60% thc of what should be in the plant material. It was only 4lbs so we are running that same biomass for another 8 hours.
We have gotten better yields with hemp biomass, always seems more dry and less spongy.
I did squeeze a little more out today. Bumped my parameter up just above supercritical. Lot more of waxes, fats, ect…It is currently winterizing now so time will tell what the yield is after 8 more hours
My subcritical is much more efficient then this. However, the machines used are build-to-suit so I for have any comparables.
Subcritcal Co2 can’t be liquid over 30c, ideally subcritcal Co2 should be 5-15c to insure a dense liquid phase.
