Riddle of hermafrodism

Ok hear me out
It s most likely yust plain srupid but
Stir the pot and who knows

Ok so I produced polyploids but many became hermi s
A genetic trait we dislike in general BUT
It seems possible to enforce the mail trait they hold with phytohormones
and chemicals
Question now is since basically at no time a Y chromosome was available
I am wondering if hermafrodism is a dominant trait
Would treating a herm with phytohormones to sinpower it a male expression and taking the male pollen from such treated plant and crossing this with a female polyploid still have a
Strong hermi expression in it s offspring ?
Trying to cut corners to have a plan for next years seeds

hi buddy

My uneducated guess would be yes, u arent altering the genes or dna when u apply hormones to it, ur just changing its expression per say.
The underlying problem will still be there.
If ur stuck on that specific lineage, u probably have about 2 or 3 years of breeding work ahead of you b4 u can make it stable
