Does anyone perform any processing to remove water solubles before dewatering/extraction? We’re working on some biomass dewatering processes and it got me wondering if brine washing could be executed on fresh biomass prior to extraction. This might save us a distillation down the line between switching solvents.
Other than the obvious issues with freeing up more non-hydrophilic junk in the extraction and any cannabinoid loss to the water (which should be very minimal), what am I missing? Also thinking this could provide an opportunity to do some inert gas sparging to strip water soluble terps that would be lost later.
